agitated in heart and mind,
mentally confused we are.
by all that we can do
and all that we can buy.
To have more and do more
our daily quest.

In the din of all the clamour
the authentic self is lost.
Inner voice stilled, replaced.
The choir of commerce
compelling, convincing of the need to buy, to acquire, to own.
The fleeting and the momentary highly exalted,
the temporary and insignificant with value loaded,
robbing, stripping, depleting man
of virtue, merit and worth.

Buried underneath all that we have obtained
and all that we have achieved
we die a silent death,
no longer being
true to the self.

Shed the titles,
leave behind the positions,
still the din,
hear, o hear again the still inner voice
of who you are meant to be.
